Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression

Find out how non-surgical spinal decompression alleviates chronic back pain.

Are you dealing with recurring and chronic back pain? If so, then you know just how much back pain can rule your life. You may have trouble working and you may even find yourself taking days off work because the pain is just too much. If you’re living with chronic back pain in Cary, IL, our chiropractor Dr. Alan Barthen provides non-surgical spinal decompression to alleviate back pain.

What is the purpose of spinal decompression?

Non-surgical spinal decompression provides therapy for the neck and back to alleviate pain through gentle repositioning and decompressing of the spine. The spine is made up of 23 vertebral discs, which cushion the bones of the spine. By decompressing the spine, we help to promote increased blood flow to these areas. Blood carries with it oxygen and nutrients that the discs require to heal properly. Decompression also produces a vacuum-like pressure inside of the discs pulling the herniation off of the spinal nerves.

What problems can nonsurgical spinal decompression treat?

There are a variety of issues that our chiropractor can address through non-surgical spinal decompression. You may be right for this chiropractic treatment if you are dealing with:

  • Sciatica
  • Neck pain
  • Back Pain
  • Herniated or bulging discs
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Posterior facet syndrome
  • Injured spinal nerve roots

Why should I consider spinal decompression?

There are many reasons people turn to spinal decompression. For one, it’s a safe, effective treatment that stimulates the body’s own natural healing processes and can prevent the need for surgery. Many patients come into our office because they are dealing with chronic back or neck pain that isn’t responding to traditional treatment, but they don’t want to turn to surgery to experience relief. If you’re at the point where you’re considering whether surgery is necessary and you haven’t yet turned to a chiropractor, it may be time to visit us.

Another reason people turn to nonsurgical spinal decompression is that they don’t want to be dependent on painkillers. While pain relievers can provide relief, they aren’t addressing the cause of your pain. Spinal decompression, on the other hand, can target the cause of your pain and provide more long-term relief than any pill.
